The Blue Bird Circle Clinic for Pediatric Neurology specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care of children with neurological diseases and disorders including brain tumors, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and headaches, with subspecialty clinics for children with Rett syndrome, muscular dystrophy, epilepsy (seizures), and sleep disorders.

The Blue Bird Circle Rett Center
The Blue Bird Circle Rett Center is one of the only centers in the United States that has the breadth of experience necessary to evaluate and treat patients with Rett syndrome. Medical specialists are available to evaluate problems such as scoliosis, chewing/swallowing dysfunction, failure to thrive, gastroesophageal reflux, and motor dysfunctions. The multidisciplinary team includes a pediatric neurologist, a pediatric gastroenterologist, an orthopedic surgeon, cardiologists, and a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

The Blue Bird Circle Multiple Sclerosis Clinic
Specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care of neurological disorders in children caused by demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system, The Blue Bird Circle Multiple Sclerosis Clinic provides perspective and insight into all aspects of these diseases. The multidisciplinary team includes a pediatric neurologist, a geneticist, a neuro-radiologist, and a neuro-opthamologist. An adult neurologist helps patients transition to adult MS care. Support personnel include a social worker, a neuropsychologist, a psychologist, and a pediatric MS nurse, as well as trained volunteers from The Blue Bird Circle Clinic.

The Blue Bird Circle Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic
The Blue Bird Circle Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic offers comprehensive, family-centered patient care, education, and research for patients affected by pediatric neuromuscular diseases. A team of experienced medical specialists offers insight and support for all aspects of muscular dystrophy. The multidisciplinary team includes pediatric neurologists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, physical medicine specialists, and orthopedic surgeons. Support personnel include a social worker, a neuropsychologist, and a psychologist, as well as trained volunteers from The Blue Bird Circle Clinic.

Texas Children's Epilepsy Center
Texas Children's Epilepsy Center evaluates and treats children with seizure disorders and epilepsy. The center offers comprehensive care for children with epilepsy. The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit provides diagnostic evaluation, and includes specialists from the departments of neurophysiology, neurology, neurosurgery, nursing, child life, physical medicine, neuro-radiology, nuclear medicine, food and nutrition, and social work. A number of surgical procedures are available for children whose seizures are not controlled by anti-epileptic medications.

Neurophysiology department
The Neurophysiology Department provides a wide range of specialized tests and consultative services essential to the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders and sleep disorders. Neurophysiology includes four specialized areas of testing and treatment:

Texas Children's Sleep Center
Texas Children's Sleep Center is one of the few centers in the country specializing in pediatric sleep disorders. The Center provides diagnostic evaluation and treatment for children with all types of sleep disorders. Neurology and neurophysiology specialists use a variety of resources, including the sleep laboratory and numerous pediatric sub-specialists to provide multidisciplinary care.

Angelman Syndrome Clinic
Texas Children’s Angelman Clinic is a multidisciplinary program that includes several specialty services: genetics, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation and developmental pediatrics. Patients seen in this clinic would have been previously diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome by laboratory studies and other medical specialists. Since Angelman syndrome is a complex neurodevelopmental and genetic disorder that primarily affects the nervous system, these patients will often be seen initially by all of the services.

Developmental Pediatrics and Autism Clinic
For over 50 years, the Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics and Autism has provided medically directed diagnostic services for infants, children and adolescents spanning the full spectrum of developmental-behavioral pediatrics – from intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and cerebral palsy to learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and developmental coordination disorders. The center also provides medically directed developmental evaluations for children at increased risk for developmental-behavioral disorders due to prematurity or other neonatal complications, medical conditions such as congenital heart disease or neurologic disorders, genetic syndromes, or adverse psychosocial experiences.
In addition to evaluating patients referred to the Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics and Autism, the providers evaluate patients through various subspecialty clinics and programs including:

Cerebral Palsy Clinic
The Cerebral Palsy Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for children with cerebral palsy and related conditions such as developmental and learning problems, difficulties with coordination, positioning and mobility as well as seizures. The clinic, established and led by Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), has evolved into a multidisciplinary collaboration between PM&R, Neurology, and Developmental Pediatrics. Our clinic also works closely with Texas Children's Neurosurgery and Orthopedics services.

This clinic provides psychiatric evaluations and pharmacological management of neuropsychiatric symptomatology. Target symptoms that may respond to pharmacological intervention are identified, quantified and followed as a function of pharmacological intervention. The clinic provides supervision and consultation to pediatricians, child psychiatrists and mental health professionals working with children.

Psychology department
The clinic specializes in the assessment and treatment of patients with acute and chronic medical illness, as well as those without medical illness in need of brief and targeted outpatient behavioral health care in a limited number of specific areas including diagnosis and treatment of disruptive behaviors in preschoolers (BBI), children with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or complex anxiety disorders including social phobia, selective mutism, separation anxiety, panic, health anxiety, and diagnosis of ADHD for children up to age 6 years.
