Texas Children's Research Institute
Research reimagined
Leading Tomorrow's Research
At Texas Children’s, we are driven to make a difference in the lives of children. Our research expertise has resulted in breakthrough developments for a variety of pediatric health conditions. With more than 800 clinic trials currently ongoing, we are working to solve many others. Finding the right diagnosis for one child can help countless more.

Collaborative Science, Boundless Possibilities
When the best minds from different disciplines come together, scientific innovation flourishes. That's the guiding principle of the Texas Children's Research Institute. Our Research Institute is a multidisciplinary hub for biomedical research across the Texas Children's healthcare system. We aim to improve patients’ lives by advancing medicine in three target areas—disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment. To do so, we coordinate research in our Discovery Research Centers, the hospital's clinical Centers of Excellence, and individual investigator labs, breaking down silos and fostering groundbreaking discoveries. We also collaborate with the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children's Hospital and the Children’s Nutrition Research Center, complementing the work of these renowned institutes. Then we translate discoveries from these research laboratories to advance medical practice at our hospital campuses and clinics. Since its founding in 1954, Texas Children’s Hospital has been at the forefront of pediatric care, education, and research. Dr. Ralph Feigin’s arrival in 1977 ushered in a new era of boundary-breaking, lifesaving pediatric research at both Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. Today, the Research Institute is proud to carry this legacy of research excellence into the era of precision medicine.

Transforming Precision Medicine
We seek to transform how we understand, diagnose, and treat diseases for each individual patient. By integrating five interconnected domains—from fundamental scientific discovery and leading edge diagnostics to therapeutic development—we accelerate the translation of innovative research into personalized treatments that improve patient outcomes.

Clinical Research and Outcomes
As part of the nation’s largest pediatric hospital, the Texas Children's Research Institute uniquely bridges the gap between discovery science and clinical application.
By housing innovative research programs and a robust clinical research infrastructure within a single institution, we create a direct pipeline from our laboratories to the bedside and clinic. We also leverage patient models—including AI-based applications built from detailed clinical data and informatics (Digital Twins)—to further advance leading edge clinical studies. This integrated approach accelerates the translation of promising discoveries into evidence-based treatments, both through rigorous trials and implementation in our practice, ensuring that scientific breakthroughs directly advance patient care.
