Support Texas Children's Donor Privacy Policy
Texas Children’s Hospital is committed to respecting the privacy of our donors. Following are the types of donor information we collect and maintain:
- contact information (name, address, telephone number, and email address)
- giving information
- credit card numbers and banking information
- information on events attended, publications received, and special requests for program information
- information provided by donors in the form of comments and suggestions
Texas Children’s Hospital does not sell, rent, trade, or share donors’ personally identifying information with any third parties except as required by law or as otherwise provided for in this Donor Privacy Policy. Use of donor information is limited to the internal purposes of Texas Children’s Hospital. We use donors’ information to understand their interests in Texas Children’s Hospital’s mission and to update them on the organization’s plans and activities. This information is also shared with staff, board members, volunteers, and consultants, but only on a limited “need-to-know” basis. Credit card numbers and banking information are used only for donation or payment processing and are not retained for any other purposes. To the extent any donations or payments are processed through a trusted service provider (bound to contractual confidentiality), donors’ information will only be used for the purposes necessary to process the transaction.
When you donate to Texas Children’s Hospital, or register for an event organized by the Office of Philanthropy, we ask you to voluntarily provide your name, address, telephone number, email address and credit card number or banking information so we can process your donation or event registration, send you a receipt or confirmation and communicate with you based on your communication preferences. When you make a gift on our website, your information goes into a database maintained by the Office of Philanthropy at Texas Children’s Hospital. We may share your information (including name, address, phone number, email address, or donation history) with trusted service providers (bound to contractual confidentiality) for the purposes of creating mailings and marketing material such as receipts, reminder letters, and other special updates from Texas Children’s Hospital.
From time to time, Texas Children’s Hospital may exchange portions of its donor mailing and email lists with a few, narrowly selected non-profit organizations as a way to attract new donors to help support our work. These exchanges are infrequent and carefully monitored. We also participate in various non-profit co-ops which share information about the donation habits of supporters of various non-profit organizations. Trusted service providers (bound to contractual confidentiality) are often used to help facilitate these list-sharing programs. We never share donors’ credit card or banking information with these organizations. If you don’t want your information included in these list-sharing programs, you can opt-out at any time by emailing revenueoperations@texaschildrens.org or writing to the Office of Philanthropy, Texas Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 300630, Houston, TX 77230. You may also opt out using any of the opt-out methods, such as check-box opt-outs or hyperlinks, included in all fundraising solicitation by Texas Children’s Hospital.
If you would like to update your communication preferences, opt out of having your information disclosed to third parties and/or used by Texas Children’s Hospital for marketing purposes, be removed from any of our mailing lists, or if you would like to modify, correct, or delete your personal information at any time, please contact us at revenueoperations@texaschildrens.org or 832-824-6806.
