Administrative Fellowship
The 18-month Texas Children’s Hospital Administrative Fellowship is designed to develop future healthcare leaders. This comprehensive program provides early careerists with exposure to executive leadership in the nation’s largest children’s hospital.
Adolescent Medicine Fellowship
Our Adolescent Medicine fellows will become health leaders who demonstrate expertise in clinical service, teaching, scholarly activity, administration and advocacy in adolescent health. The Adolescent Medicine interdisciplinary faculty includes 5 board-certified adolescent medicine physicians, 3 mental health providers and 2 dietitians who comprehensively address complex medical problems including: eating disorders, obesity, young women's health care needs and chronic fatigue.

Cardiology Fellowship
The Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine is designed for three years of clinical and research training. Fourth-year advanced training opportunities have traditionally been offered in every subspecialty. In the first year, the trainee rotates through echocardiography, electrophysiology, cardiac catheterization, the cardiovascular intensive care unit and inpatient services. The second and third years involve rotations through those clinical areas and others with more responsibility on the part of the trainee. Our curriculum also includes elective time and 12 months of research.
Child Abuse Pediatrics Fellowship
The robust volume of Texas Children's Hospital within the Texas Medical Center offers two first-year CAP fellows positions in 2018 for an unmatched array of learning opportunities in pathophysiology and psychosocial dynamics. The Children's Assessment Center (CAC) in Houston also partners with the Child Abuse Pediatrics faculty to serve the child sexual abuse victims of Houston. Clinical experience will include inpatient and outpatient consultation on cases of possible abuse and neglect, the provision of clinical care to children and adolescents in the Child Protective Health Outpatient Clinic as well as at the medical clinic of the CAC. Trainees will become involved with the medico-legal aspects of child maltreatment education in family and criminal courts within Harris and its surrounding counties. The program will also consider the support of Master's degree coursework pursued during training (clinical research, public health, or education).

Critical Care Medicine Fellowship
Our Critical Care Medicine fellows train in a 31-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a 21-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), and a 36-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) to master the latest practices in patient care and research.
Cardiac Critical Care Instructorship
We offer an additional one-year pediatric cardiac intensive care instructorship to 4th year fellows interested in pursuing additional training in pediatric cardiovascular intensive care medicine. Candidates must have completed fellowships in pediatric critical care medicine or pediatric cardiology.
Developmental-Behavioral Fellowship
The Developmental-Behavioral Pediatric Fellowship is a 3-year, ACGME-approved fellowship program that provides training in the evaluation and longitudinal management of infants, children and adolescents with a spectrum of neurodevelopmental disabilities and behavior disorders, such as learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, complications of prematurity and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Endocrinology Fellowship
The Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital is an accredited program through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education that provides comprehensive clinical and research experience in Pediatric Endocrinology. With up to four fellows per year, our program is one of the largest pediatric endocrinology fellowships in the United States.
Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Fellowship
Faculty in our department perform over 15,000 outpatient and over 4,000 in-patient consultations yearly, allowing for the opportunity to train in a wide variety of clinical and research settings.
Global Child Health Residency
Our innovative program provides 36 months of training through pediatric rotations in the United States and 12 months of training at one of the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI) Centers of Excellence in Africa.
Global Women’s Health Fellowship
The goal of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Global Women’s Health Fellowship is to provide the fully-boarded or board-eligible obstetrician/gynecologist with additional clinical training and research experience in a global setting.
Headache Fellowship Program
Baylor College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, Section of Child Neurology offers a one year United Council for Neurological Subspecialties (UCNS) accredited fellowship in headache medicine. It is currently the only headache fellowship program in Houston, and one of few in the state.
Infectious Disease Fellowship Program
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program is a three-year training program designed to prepare pediatricians for a career in pediatric infectious diseases. The first year of fellowship is primarily dedicated to clinical training at Texas Children’s Hospital. Years two and three of the fellowship program are dedicated to receiving basic, translational or clinical mentored research training. In addition to the clinical and research training, the Baylor pediatric infectious diseases fellows complete rotations in clinical microbiology/virology, molecular microbiology, retrovirology, and a one-month course in the fundamentals of clinical investigation.
Neonatology Education
Educational opportunities, including neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowships and training for medical students, residents, and nutritionists in patient care and research.
Nephrology Residency or Fellowship
We offer both residency opportunities and fellowship opportunities in both pediatric nephrology and pediatric critical care nephrology.
Neurology Residency
Our residents and fellows in pediatric neurology have the opportunity to train with the best pediatric neurologists and developmental neuroscientists.
Neurosurgical Fellowship
This 1-year clinical fellowship prepares our fellows to provide the best in patient care while furthering the field through research in an academic medicine setting.
Nurse Residency Program
The Nurse Residency program is a six month program designed for first year nurses with an interest in women services and/or pediatric nursing.
Nutrition Internship or Fellowship
The Leadership Education in Adolescent Health (LEAH) nutrition program allows participants to complete a dietetic internship while completing a LEAH fellowship.
Otolaryngology Fellowship
Our fellows train with a committed staff in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with the opportunity to log 500 to 1000 cases as a surgeon or assistant in their first year of training.
Orthopedic Fellowship Opportunities
- Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery
The ACGME-accredited and POSNA-accredited Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery fellowship program at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital includes broad-based exposure to all aspects of pediatric orthopedics. During this 1-year fellowship, up to 3 fellows will spend time rotating through Texas Children’s Hospital. The faculty consists of 18 full-time pediatric orthopedists and 1 adjunct pediatric spine surgeon involved in all areas of pediatric musculoskeletal care. We offer Texas Children's Hospital Department of Surgery and Baylor College of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Grand Rounds, journal club, preoperative indications and postoperative review conferences, and didactic core curriculum lectures. Texas Children's Department of Surgery Research Division supports fellow research projects. - Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Physician Assistant Fellowship
The program includes 10 months of clinical pediatric orthopedic surgical subspecialty experience with designated time for research. The remaining two months of the program are elective months, one month for each elective. Each participating fellow will determine, upon availability, the surgical subspecialty for their final two months in the program. All training will be provided within the Texas Children’s Hospital system, both in the medical center and surrounding locations, through the direct delegation and supervision of department supervising physicians. - Texas Children’s / Baylor College of Medicine Orthopedic Surgery Research Fellowship
One-year funded opportunity is targeted to medical students interested in pediatric musculoskeletal clinical research. Fellows can hone skills in research methodology and participate in ongoing clinical research projects in a subspecialty area or areas of interest. - SICOT meets SICOT (SMS) Observership
The Division of Orthopedics collaborates with the International Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SICOT) to offer members of SICOT the opportunity to pursue a one or two-month long observership with our faculty at Texas Children’s Hospital. - Visiting International Scholar Program (VISP)

Orthopedic Surgery Physician Assistant Fellowship
The Orthopedic Physician Assistant Fellowship Program at Texas Children’s Hospital is the first of its kind in the country to provide a specialized training opportunity specifically for physician assistants. This intensive 12-month didactic and clinical pediatric orthopedic training program ensures a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a full spectrum of pediatric orthopedic surgical subspecialties, including hip, lower extremity, spine, sports, upper extremity, trauma, and tumor.
Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship
Our fellowship offers unparalleled clinical volume and acuity with an engaged faculty and a supportive clinical environment. The Anesthesiology Department performs more than 50,000 anesthetics a year! They include nearly 1,000 cardiac surgery procedures, approximately 30 liver transplants, and the full range of neonatal and pediatric surgical procedures on healthy children as well as those with complex medical conditions. We are also actively involved in the delivery of anesthesia to gravid patients who present for fetal interventions.
Our practice is unique in that we work with both academic and community surgeons, which prepares our fellows for both private practice and academic careers. All faculty members are certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and fellowship-trained.
Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Fellowship
Our Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Fellowship will give you comprehensive training in both medical and surgical aspects of pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
Pediatric Cardiovascular Anesthesiology Fellowship
As an integral part of one of the largest and most comprehensive heart centers in the world, we offer prospective fellows an unrivaled clinical experience encompassing the spectrum of pediatric and congenital heart disease. Each year we provide care for more than 1,000 operations (600 on cardiopulmonary bypass), 1,500 cardiac catheterizations (diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology), and 500 radiology procedures (interventional, CT, and MRI). Highlighting this volume is our nation-leading experience in pediatric heart transplantation, lung transplantation, ventricular-assist devices, and adults with congenital heart disease.
Equally important to the clinical experience we offer is the dedication of our faculty to fellow education and career development. The same individuals who are international leaders in congenital cardiac anesthesia are also the ones who have developed a culture at Texas Children’s in which fellow teaching and mentoring is paramount. Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship
Pediatric palliative care is specialized medical care for children with serious and chronic illnesses. It focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness to improve quality of life for both the child and the family.

Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship
The Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship Program at Baylor College of Medicine is a one year non-ACGME accredited program that started in 2012. The scope of practice that our fellows are exposed to during their fellowship runs the spectrum of pediatric plastic surgery and craniofacial surgery.
Pediatric Transplant Nutrition Fellowship
The Pediatric Transplant Nutrition Practicums is offered for Registered Dietitians who work in the field of pediatric transplant (liver, lung, heart, kidney).
Radiology Fellowships
The fellowship includes rotations in all modalities of pediatric radiology, including ultrasound, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, plain radiography, neuroradiology, interventional radiology, cardiac imaging, fetal imaging and nuclear medicine.
Sports Medicine Fellowship
The Pediatric Sports Medicine fellowship is an ACGME approved 1-year fellowship. Clinical experiences in the fellowship include adult and pediatric patients in clinic, collegiate and high school training rooms and event coverage, operating room, physical therapy gym and community endurance event coverage.
Sports Physical Therapy Residency
The 13-month sports physical therapy residency is focused on developing advanced clinical skills, education, clinical research, and leadership. It is designed according to the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education requirements.
Surgery Physician Assistant Fellowship
The Community Surgery Physician Assistant Fellowship Program at Texas Children’s Hospital is the first of its kind in the country to provide a specialized training opportunity specifically for physician assistants. This intensive12-month didactic and clinical pediatric training program ensures a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a full spectrum of pediatric community surgical subspecialties, including general pediatric surgery, orthopedics, otolaryngology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, surgical hospitalists, and urology.
