Grow, develop and thrive

Whether you’re early in your nursing career or further along in your journey, Texas Children’s is a place to grow, advance and be supported.

Pathways

As a nationally recognized pediatric system, Texas Children’s offers mentorship and development opportunities to help you build meaningful connections and advance your career across our system and 40+ subspecialties.

  • Nurse Mentorship Program: Learn from experienced nurses who
support your transition and long-term career growth.
  • Nursing Career Pathways: Explore opportunities to advance and
pursue new experiences across specialties, leadership, education and clinical practice.
  • SOAR Clinical Advancement Program: This structured, measurable development initiative empowers nurses to grow their careers while improving patient care and healthcare outcomes.

Nurse Residency Program

First‑year nurses with an interest in pediatrics, adult congenital heart disease, and women’s services bridge the gap from nursing school to professional practice during this 12-month program. Nurse residents engage in critical thinking exercises, hands‑on skill practice, simulation, and evidence‑based practice.

Voice of Nursing

Hear directly from the nurses who bring our mission to life every day. Through personal stories, career journeys and insights from across Texas Children’s, our nurses talk about how they grow, develop and make an impact for children and families.

Five women stand together smiling and clapping while holding yellow paper flowers. They wear blue t-shirts that say "Let There Be GOLD" and appear to be at a cheerful event or celebration.

“I think it helps kids to learn that someone else has been through it, too. They’re not alone.”

Nurse practitioner Aubrey Campbell—born with unbalanced atrioventricular canal defect and a childhood heart patient at Texas Children’s—says her medical situation gave her a frame of curiosity and passion that led her down the path of medicine.

It is the best job in the world. Our patients are strong, resilient, and worth every bit of effort we put forth.

— Sara Bennett, Education Coordinator
