A National Leader in Pediatric Transplants

The largest pediatric transplant program in the country.
We often have success with cases other programs might consider untreatable.
Texas Children’s Hospital is a national leader in pediatric transplants. As the largest pediatric transplant program in the country, we have performed over 2,100 solid organ transplants since 1984. Being one of the most active pediatric transplant centers in the world, our physicians, surgeons and staff are setting a new standard of transplant care that provides the best opportunity for every child to thrive.
We offer a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach through each aspect of the transplant process. From initial referrals to hospitalization and post-transplant outpatient care, patients have access to more than 40 different specialties, ensuring all facets of care are addressed.
Our Transplant Programs
Continuing our record of innovation and excellence
Our depth of skill and service, both within the program and throughout the hospital, gives us the ability to care for patients from birth to adulthood and provide a full continuum of care. Our program is proud of its list of firsts, including:
- 1st successful infant heart transplant in the United States
- 1st pediatric lung-kidney transplant in the United States
- 1st triple transplant procedure (heart, lungs and liver), one of only three in the United States
To refer a patient or request additional information about our program, please call 866-683-8032. You can also email our Referral Specialist directly at TransplantReferrals@TexasChildrens.org.
We accept referrals from around the world and often have success with cases other programs might consider untreatable, including transplants in infants. We are accredited by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). We also partner with LifeGift for local organ procurement.
