Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialty Clinic

Expert Specialty Care, Conveniently Located Within Your Maternal Fetal Medicine Visit

The Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialty Clinic at Texas Children's Pavilion for Women is designed to make managing a high-risk pregnancy easier. Instead of traveling to multiple locations for specialty appointments, expert physicians from a variety of medical specialties come directly to our Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) clinic to see patients alongside the MFM care team.

This innovative model allows you to receive specialized care in a familiar setting while ensuring your providers work together to support both your health and your baby's health throughout pregnancy.

Specialized Care Designed Around You

Pregnancy can become more complex when medical conditions such as heart disease, kidney disease, autoimmune disorders, or neurological conditions are involved. In these situations, close collaboration between specialists and your maternal-fetal medicine physician is essential.

Through our co-located clinic model, specialty physicians see patients within the MFM clinic, allowing for direct communication, coordinated care planning, and a more seamless patient experience. By bringing specialists to you, we reduce the need for additional appointments at separate locations and make it easier to receive the expert care you need.

Specialty Services Available

Our co-located clinics currently include specialists from:

  • Cardiology – Care for women with heart conditions that may affect pregnancy.
  • Neurology – Management of neurological conditions such as epilepsy, migraines, and other disorders.
  • Rheumatology – Care for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Nephrology – Specialized support for women with kidney disease or conditions affecting kidney function.

Additional medical and surgical specialties will continue to be added as our program grows.

Benefits of Coordinated Specialty Care

You and your baby benefit from:

  • Expert collaboration between your MFM physician and specialty providers
  • Convenient access to specialty care within the MFM clinic
  • Coordinated treatment plans developed by your care team
  • Fewer appointments at multiple locations
  • Improved communication among providers
  • Comprehensive pregnancy and delivery planning

What to Expect

During your visit, you may see both your MFM physician and a specialty provider within the same clinic setting. Your care team will review your medical history, monitor your pregnancy, discuss treatment recommendations, and develop a coordinated plan tailored to your individual needs.

By bringing specialists into the MFM clinic, we are able to provide more integrated, patient-centered care while minimizing the stress and logistical challenges often associated with high-risk pregnancies.
