FAQs

Our team at the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Center screens each referral individually. We customize care planning and scheduling to meet the referring provider’s requests and your specific needs.

Our maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialists manage pregnancies that need specialty screening or management due to an established or newly developed risk factor. We also provide consultative comanagement with your primary Ob/Gyn.

The center’s MFM specialty care team provides total obstetrical care for pregnancies that need continuous monitoring and care. Our center can also coordinate care with Texas Children’s Hospital’s pediatric specialists at the Fetal Center for our youngest patients.

Understandably, no one ever hopes to need our team or services. However, those who entrust their care to us usually don’t want to leave our team when their care is complete.

We will include you as the key member in your care, and we commit to treat, respect and embrace you within our care team. We’ll take the time to inform you and listen to your needs, wishes and concerns. We’ll advocate with a spirit of hope and perseverance to provide you, your baby (or babies) and family with the highest level of care.

Through referrals from primary Ob/Gyns and current MFM doctors, we see pregnant women who:

  • Have a history of pregnancy complications or obstetrical problems
  • Have new maternal symptoms or conditions in their current pregnancy
  • Who have fetal problems in their current pregnancy
  • Who have multiple pregnancies, such as complex twins, triplets, quadruplets or more

We also provide prepregnancy counseling for nonpregnant women who have health conditions or a medical history of problems in previous pregnancies and want to become pregnant.

Our services include:

  • Consultations and total obstetrical care by our MFM specialists
  • Dedicated care for multiple pregnancies through our Program for Multiples®
  • Genetic counseling and screening by our Prenatal and Reproductive Genetics team
