For women with heart disease

At Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women, we’re making pregnancy possible for women with heart disease through the Maternal Heart Program. Our specialists provide innovative services for high-risk pregnancies, from prepregnancy counseling through prenatal care to support during delivery and beyond. Our dedicated, multidisciplinary care offers new hope for pregnant women with heart conditions as they build their families.

Our services for pregnant women with heart disease

At the Maternal Heart Program, our doctors have years of experience treating pregnant women with heart disease. Families come to our program because we offer:

  • Highly specialized team of experts: Our maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialists (Ob/Gyns who specialize in high-risk pregnancy care) and cardiologists (specialists in heart care) have extensive training and experience in their fields. You’ll have peace of mind, knowing that your care is in the hands of world-class experts.
  • Convenient “one-stop” appointments: You and your baby see your MFM specialist and cardiologist together in the same visit. Your doctors collaborate closely to manage your pregnancy and minimize your risks every step of the way.
  • Prepregnancy counseling: Your specialists work together to assess the unique risks you may face during pregnancy. We provide counseling and recommendations to help you have a safe, healthy pregnancy.
  • The most advanced technologies and treatments: Your specialists participate in ongoing research on women’s heart health and pregnancy, working to advance the understanding and treatment of high-risk pregnancies. We bring those advances directly to you and your baby, providing comprehensive care to address all your health needs during pregnancy and beyond.
  • Collaboration with your Ob/Gyn: We work closely with your obstetrician to monitor the health of you and your baby throughout your pregnancy. Our team assists with birth planning to ensure that your baby gets the best possible start in life.
  • Access to fetal and neonatal specialists: Should your baby have any health problems in the womb or after delivery, you have access to specialists in every field at Texas Children’s Hospital.
