The Genetics Clinic Family Advisory Committee is composed of families with extensive experience in the Texas Children’s Genetics Clinic and our staff genetic counselors.
The advisory committee’s mission is to support medical care that is focused on our patients and their families. We seek to do this by providing caregiving and support guidance and upholding the Genetics Clinic’s specific strategic initiatives.
Our vision includes these efforts:
Fostering and supporting partnerships between Texas Children’s Genetics Clinic, its patients, families and staff
Gathering input on areas of improvement and ways to enhance the clinic experience
Developing innovative solutions to challenges that best support the needs of patients and families
Collaborating with parents and caregivers who have firsthand experience with Genetics Clinic services on specific programs
Our Outreach Efforts
Genetics Clinic outreach includes:
Our quarterly advisory committee meeting is held virtually via Microsoft Teams. We occasionally hold in-person meetings and events as well.
A Genetics Clinic library consists of books relevant to the educational and support needs of patients and family members, which are shared with our patients by their providers during Genetics Clinic appointments.
Our newsletter shares important clinic information, highlights staff members and features stories from families. Read some of our previous Genetics Clinic newsletters below.
