Early Motor Disorders and Cerebral Palsy Evaluation Clinic
The Early Motor Disorders and Cerebral Palsy Evaluation Clinic housed within the Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics at the Stadium Drive Location is an interdisciplinary effort between neurodevelopmental neurology and physical medicine and rehabilitation to provide evidence-based early assessment and evaluation for children with a high potential for motor/movement disability such as cerebral palsy. Formal validated assessments of a child’s overall development with an emphasis on movement and motor needs will be completed at each visit. The interdisciplinary nature of this clinic is meant to consolidate care for children with prenatal, perinatal, and post-natal brain developmental risk-factors such as Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL), neonatal strokes, brain malformations, neurogenetic disorders, intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) with or without venous infarctions (strokes), hydrocephalus, and meningitis-encephalitis.
Infants seen within this clinic will receive a simultaneous and comprehensive evaluation with a pediatric neurodevelopmentalist and physiatrist. Families will be counseled on therapeutic and medical interventions and potential for or confirmed diagnoses including Cerebral Palsy.
