Road Map Model of Care

Texas Children’s Hospital has developed a unique approach to the diagnosis and ongoing care of children with developmental-behavioral conditions and their families. We call it our Road Map Model. From the moment you first contact our clinic for an appointment, you’re invited to join a workshop that offers helpful information about community resources that may be available to help you and your child before receiving a formal diagnosis. When you meet with a psychologist or developmental pediatrician, you’ll be able to ask questions specific to your child and your family and will receive an individualized plan of care, including referrals to specialists such as medical subspecialists, social work, speech/language pathology, physical and occupational therapy, audiology and other services as needed.

Once you have a medical diagnosis and treatment plan, our dedicated medical and social work team continues to offer educational workshops to further explain your child’s condition, point you to specialized community services and provide information about financial resources that may be available to you. You can learn more about community resources through our community resources.
