Knowing what to do in an emergency is critical. Seek emergency care right away if your baby has any of the following issues:

  • Difficulty breathing - If your baby is working hard to breathe and is not able to feed normally.
  • Constant crying - If your baby is crying inconsolably for more than one hour.
  • High fever - If your baby is 28 days or younger and has a rectal temperature is 100.4°F or higher.
  • Sleeping too long - If your baby is sleeping for more than 8 hours, is difficult to wake up and is not interested in feeding
