The Cancer Genetics and Genomics Program at Texas Children’s Hospital is focused on providing clinical services and conducting research related to pediatric cancer.

Our knowledge of cancer genetics continues to grow at a rapid pace, and has implications for all aspects of cancer management, including prevention, screening and treatment.  

Discovering the genetic makeup of each child’s tumor allows us to:  

  • Improve our understanding of cancer biology
  • Help identify at-risk individuals
  • Tailor treatments to individual patients  
  • Develop new therapies

Services Cancer Genetics Clinic

Personalized cancer risk assessment for patients and their families, as well as counseling on the testing process, results of any genetic testing and ways to minimize cancer risk 

Services Childhood Cancer Prevention and Screening Clinic

Cancer screening services for children with hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes and other conditions that increase the risk of childhood cancer

State-of-the-art genomic testing to make the most informed decisions possible for the care of your child

To provide state-of-the-art evaluation of and management for children and their families who are at an increased risk of developing cancer or who have rare, relapsed, refractory or high-risk cancers

To conduct innovative genetics and genomics research to understand, diagnose, treat and prevent cancer

To train future clinicians and scientists at all educational stages in cancer genetics and genomics
