Spiritual Care Programs

The Spiritual Care department sponsors various programs throughout the hospital to assist our patients, families, and staff members.

No Crib for a Bed

No crib for a Bed is a program that helps provide a pack and play and a baby blanket to families who qualify and need a crib.  Often in the EC or PICU we come across families who are sleeping together, have slept all in one bed nightly, and/or are dealing with a co-sleeping injuries or even deaths because of the lack of a crib. We are aiming to meet this need to help prevent injuries and in some cases even unnecessary deaths to precious and vulnerable infants.  We welcome donations to this project for a pack and play.

R & R Cart

The R & R cart is a special tea cart used as needed for encouragement, support, and refreshment time for staff after difficult or traumatic situations.

Religious and Cultural Events

The Spiritual Care department seeks to provide events and space to honor important cultural and religious events throughout the year.  For current events, please contact the spiritual care office.

If you are interested in donating for any of these programs please contact the Philanthropy department by email (giving@texaschildrens.org) or by clicking below.

Spiritual Care Volunteers

Spiritual Care Volunteers of all faith traditions extend the spiritual care of a vibrant team of staff chaplains.  As a Spiritual Care Volunteer, you will have the opportunity to listen, encourage, support, understand, rejoice, pray if requested, and sometimes grieve with families.  Volunteers work with unit chaplains to make appropriate referrals and communicate patient needs for ongoing care or additional services. Each volunteer will be given special training for making hospital visits to provide spiritual and emotional support for religiously and culturally diverse patients and their caregivers  You will be able to choose a day and time to volunteer weekly that suits your schedule.

To apply to be a Spiritual Care Volunteer, contact our Volunteer Services department at each campus.

If you would like additional information on upcoming Orientation/Training Dates or would like to talk with the Spiritual Care Volunteer coordinator chaplain, please call the spiritual care office at the respective campus.
