Spiritual Care at Texas Children’s Hospital

At Texas Children’s Hospital, we understand that hospitalization can be overwhelming for your child and your family. The mission of the Spiritual Care Department at Texas Children’s Hospital is to promote healing by providing compassionate interfaith spiritual support for patients, families and staff. Our team seeks to provide interventions that address the spiritual and emotional needs of our patients and families throughout their hospital experience.

The Spiritual Care department includes board certified staff chaplains at each Texas Children's campus, spiritual care volunteers, and volunteers from partner community organizations, including the Catholic Chaplain Corps, Lifeline Chaplaincy, Jewish Family Services, and the Islamic Society of Greater Houston.

Please let us know how we can support you and your family during your hospital stay.

  • Offer prayers and blessings to patients and families.
  • Affirm and incorporate resources of faith and spirituality into a patient’s care, including providing religious literature, prayer rugs, Shabbat candles.
  • Facilitate religious and spiritual rituals as a part of a patient’s care, including baptisms, naming services, sacrament of the sick, and other rituals.
  • Provide support to families facing grief and bereavement.
  • Assist in facilitating visits from your own clergy.
