Texas Children’s Hospital and the Houston Texans
Two teams, one goal

Get off the sidelines and into the game! Texas Children’s Hospital and the Houston Texans are inspiring kids to be active and healthy while having fun at exciting events throughout the community. Not only will kids get moving, they’ll learn important life skills like teamwork and discipline to help them become winners now and in the future.

They’ll be able to learn about nutrition and exercise from two of the experts – Texas Children’s and the Houston Texans.

 Houston Texans Junior Cheerleaders

Cheer on the team and jump with the stars! This event, sponsored by Texas Children’s, is a dream come true for cheerleaders between the ages of 7 and 11. They’ll have the opportunity to practice with Texans cheerleaders – and join them on the field during a home game.

Registration fee includes:

  • Texans cheerleader uniform and pompoms
  • Autographed poster of cheerleaders
  • DVD of performance

Girls, especially athletes, have special health needs as they develop into young women. Texas Children’s Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology is one of the nation’s leading programs dedicated to these unique concerns.

Houston Texans Kids' Triathlon

Where is the largest kids’ triathlon? Why, Houston, of course! More than 3,000 children between 6 and 15 and thousands of families gather every spring at NRG Stadium to run, bike and swim. Texas Children’s, the Houston Texans and Kids Triathlon, Inc. team up to make this a day to remember.

Cheered on by Texans cheerleader, mascot TORO and Texans Ambassadors, kids gain valuable lessons about safety, and the whole family can come together to be active.

In the weeks before the event, the Texans lead training sessions at YMCA locations across the Houston area. It’s a fun way to learn about the importance of physical activity and healthy eating to help them get ready for the big day.

To be sure your child is in tip-top shape for the event, we’ve put together a guide with nutrition advice, an endurance training plan and safety tips so participants will train properly and perform their best on race day.

Houston Texans Running of the Bulls

Each fall, Texas Children’s sponsors TORO’s Kids 1k run/walk for children 12 years and younger. It’s during the Houston Texans Running of the Bulls 5K run/walk presented by H-E-B at NRG Stadium, so share the fun and make it a family affair!

Every child is a winner, and regardless of ability each child will cross the finish line and receive an official Running of the Bulls medal. Interactive water stops help kids stay hydrated during the event.

The fun includes appearances by TORO, the Texans cheerleaders and the Deep Steel Thunder, and kids can play in TORO’s Kids Club Kids Zone. Race participants – young and not so young -- enjoy free food and drinks, prizes and live music.

Get Fit with TORO

Look for TORO as he visits Houston-area elementary schools to teach about the importance of being active and eating a healthy diet. Sponsored by Texas Children’s, these all-school assemblies show how fun and zany exercise and good nutrition can be. Kids get a special treat when players and cheerleaders join the event through a video call.
