Strategic Collaboratives
The Texas Children’s Diabetes & Endocrine Care Center is committed to partnerships, programs and platforms that unite the diabetes community locally, nationally and internationally. Dr. Daniel DeSalvo serves as the Director of Strategic Collaboration. We believe in the power of collaboration to advance our mission in supporting patients in an impactful way.
Our partners
We are extremely grateful for our many partners, including:
American Diabetes Association (ADA), Houston Office
We partner closely with the ADA Houston office, which is committed to educating the public about how to support those living with diabetes.
ADA Camp Rainbow
ADA Camp Rainbow is a lifeline for children with diabetes to develop the critical skills needed to thrive while managing this disease. It’s also a great place to connect with other children with diabetes and build friendships that last a lifetime. Camp Rainbow is a day camp for children ages 4-17.
Beyond Type 1
We partner with Beyond Type 1 through their platforms, programs, resources and grants aimed at uniting the global diabetes community. Our partnership has included the Jerry the Bear program for newly diagnosed children with type 1 diabetes, and Diabetes Scholars need-based college scholarship program.
JDRF, Houston Gulf Coast Chapter
We collaborate closely with the JDRF Houston Gulf Coast Chapter as a support structure and community for type 1 diabetes.
PESTOLA
The Pediatric Endocrine Society of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas is focused on increasing awareness, education and patient advocacy for endocrine and metabolic disease from conception through adolescence.
Southwest National Pediatric Device Consortium
We partner with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) funded Southwest National Pediatric Device Consortium, which includes engineers from Rice University and Texas A&M University to support pediatric device innovation, product and business acceleration, with the goal of commercialization and clinical use of novel pediatric medical devices.
T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Collaborative
We are a key member of the national T1D Exchange QI learning collaborative, which includes 12 core sites with the goal of improving type 1 diabetes patient health outcomes and quality of life, developing innovative patient-centric care methods, and creating an effective and sustainable care model.
