Dr. Lisa Bouchier-Hayes’ latest research, published in Science Advances (AAAS), identifies Caspase-2 as a potential therapeutic target in nucleophosmin-mutated acute myeloid leukemia.

Bouchier-Hayes’ laboratory, which is based at Texas Children’s Hospital, found that Caspase-2 is essential for proliferation and self-renewal of the cancer when nucleophosmin (NPM1) is mutated. In acute myeloid leukemia the NPM1 mutation is one of the most common – it is present in approximately 30% of adult cases and 6 – 8% of pediatric patients. Read the publication
