Areas of Research Bone Marrow Failure

Our program was awarded a Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program Exploration- Hypothesis Award in the area of bone marrow failure and received an award from the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). This research is part of our larger efforts to uncover new pathways and molecular mechanisms contributing to bone marrow failure in children.

The Bone Marrow Failure Research Program aims to uncover new pathways and molecular mechanisms that contribute to pediatric bone marrow failure.

The Bone Marrow Failure program was awarded a Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program Exploration-Hypothesis Award in the area of Bone Marrow Failure. The award was given to principal investigator Alison Bertuch, MD, PhD for her research project entitled “Molecular mechanism of bone marrow failure associated with TINF2 mutations.”

Dr. Bertuch also received an award from the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) for a research project entitled “Novel mechanisms leading to telomere dysfunction and cancer predisposition”. This research is part of our larger efforts to uncover new pathways and/or molecular mechanisms contributing to bone marrow failure in children.
