We are proud to be named a Tier 1 Center of Excellence (CoE) for Telomere Biology Disorders, placing us as a leading institution for patients and clinical centers seeking high-quality care. The Centers of Excellence are organized into three tiers, with Tier 1 being the highest level. These designations are based on an institution’s demonstrated work and current access to recommended specialists, management and treatment options, and resources while accounting for geographical access and presence. Telomere Biology Disorders (TBDs) are inherited conditions that impair the maintenance of telomeres, the protective caps on chromosomes. These disorders can affect multiple organs and systems, leading to issues such as bone marrow failure, liver disease, lung disease, and increased cancer risk. Early diagnosis and specialized treatment are crucial for managing these complex disorders and improving outcomes for those affected.
