Cellular telephones can be used in common floor areas such as corridors and lobbies. However, cellular phones emit radio frequencies that may interfere with the proper operation of medical devices and can contribute to potentially life-threatening situations. Therefore, they must be turned off in restricted locations with critical care life support and monitoring equipment. Cellular phones are permitted in patient rooms but must be operated at least three feet (one meter) away from patient care equipment.
The above policy also applies to other similar devices that emit radio frequencies. Such devices include but are not limited to: citizens band radios, two-way radios, walkie-talkies, cordless telephones and games operated by radio remote control. Please check with a hospital staff member for further clarification if you are uncertain about what is permitted during your visit.

Make a gift in support of West Campus.
In addition, the outdoor plaza in front of West Campus is paved with hundreds of donor bricks purchased by members of the West Houston community and hospital employees, signifying their generous support.
- Dream Tree
In 2009, to celebrate an important construction milestone at West Campus, we invited area children to share their dreams with us. A colorful ribbon representing each child’s dream was tied to a live loblolly pine, which was raised to the top of West Campus during the topping-out ceremony; this construction tradition symbolizes the completion of the vertical construction of a building. After the ceremony, the “dream tree” was planted and integrated into the beautiful landscaping on our campus for everyone’s enjoyment and as a testament to the importance of children’s dreams.
