Research Area:
Epidemiology (Cancer and Hematology)
Leila Sahni is an epidemiologist with research interests in pediatric infectious diseases, public health surveillance, vaccine effectiveness, and vaccine hesitancy. Much of her work has focused on the epidemiology of respiratory and gastrointestinal viruses in young children, the role of these viruses in pediatric emergency department use and hospitalization, and the post-licensure assessments of rotavirus and influenza vaccine effectiveness.
Her research interests have recently expanded to include parental vaccine hesitancy and concerns about vaccine safety, and she is an active collaborator on studies assessing the prevalence of vaccine hesitancy among parents of children in the Greater Houston area and nationally among parents of children with autism spectrum disorders.
