Get to know Jacob T. Stephenson, MD
Jacob Stephenson, MD, FACS has returned home to Texas after retiring from the US Air Force with 21 years of active service and multiple operational and clinical leadership roles, most recently in surgical education at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland.
After completing his residency and fellowships, Dr. Stephenson began his military career focused on pediatric surgical education for general surgeons with an emphasis on military/civilian partnerships. In addition to performing broad spectrum surgical care for babies and children at military and civilian hospitals stateside, he has served on six combat deployments and a multitude of training missions with special operations surgical resuscitation teams around the world.
Dr. Stephenson is committed to bringing compassionate and high-quality family-centered care to babies and children wherever they are. Through his interests in global surgery, he is actively involved in global pediatric surgical education through the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons residency programs in multiple countries on the African continent.
Dr. Stephenson is thrilled to be able to bring this experience and passion for excellence back home to the families of Austin who find themselves in need of surgical care.
