Get to know Cynthia Lang, PhD
Dr. Lang is a Licensed Psychologist who specializes in Pediatric Psychology, assessing and treating children with acute and chronic medical conditions. She conducts presurgical psychological evaluations for patients through the Breast Surgery and Bariatric Surgery programs at Texas Children's Hospital The Woodlands. Additionally, she has a focus on gastrointestinal disorders, including individuals with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Dr. Lang engages in collaboration with subspecialty medical teams to support optimal patient care.
Dr. Lang utilizes evidence-based practices, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and parent management training to provide tailored care and best meet each patient and family's individual needs. She provides services aimed at supporting youth in adjusting to chronic medical diagnoses, adherence to medical treatment planning, coping with procedures, behavior management, and building coping skills for mood and anxiety concerns. Dr. Lang also works with each family unit to support effective communication styles.
Personal Statement
As a pediatric psychologist, I am committed to providing exceptional, evidence-based care to my patients and their families through a flexible approach that is sensitive to each patient's unique characteristics and needs. I strive to best support each patient so that they may gain coping tools necessary to improve quality of life within the context of new and pre-existing medical conditions. For patients who are surgical candidates, I provide tailored evaluation of psychological functioning to best support outcomes and clinical decision-making within a multidisciplinary team approach.
