What to Expect on Your Care Journey

Once you're referred to the Texas Children's Celiac Disease Program, our team will contact you to guide you through the next steps and coordinate the care that's right for your child.

Depending on your child's evaluation, care may include:

  • Same Day Endoscopy (currently available at our West Campus location): Eligible children with positive celiac blood tests may qualify for our Same Day Endoscopy (SDE) pathway, allowing specialist consultation and diagnostic endoscopy during the same visit.
  • Diagnostic evaluation: Families receive a comprehensive consultation to determine whether additional testing, including endoscopy, is needed to confirm the diagnosis.
  • Ongoing celiac care: Once celiac disease is confirmed, we provide expert guidance on a gluten-free diet, nutritional monitoring, and long-term follow-up to help children achieve their best health.

If celiac disease is not confirmed, we'll work with your family and referring physician to determine the most appropriate next steps in your child's care.
