HOUSTON (Dec. 2, 2021) – Texas Children’s Hospital will kick off the holidays with an inaugural Christmas tree farm, bringing joy and cheer to patients and their families spending the holidays at Texas Children’s this Friday, December 3rd. For the first time ever, Texas Children’s volunteer services and Child Life teams put together a spectacular Christmas tree farm at the hospital’s patient activity center, made up of 150 pre-decorated, 2.5-foot artificial Christmas trees, making this the Group’s largest Christmas tree donation to date.

“The Christmas trees represent hope and excitement for our patients and will help bring smiles to our patients and their families this holiday season,” said Crystal Ortiz, Volunteer Services Manager at Texas Children’s Hospital. “Texas Children’s is invested in the overall well-being of our patients and we’re excited to partner with J&J Flooring Group to provide children with such a magical moment.”

Texas Children’s patients will have the opportunity to stop by the makeshift tree farm for a chance to select their very own Christmas tree to make their rooms feel more festive and brighten the holidays during their stay at the hospital. As part of J&J’s Helping Hands initiative and with a donation from Texas Star Dental, the trees were decorated ranging in theme from professional sports teams to movie characters and many other kid-friendly activities such as space, art and music – there’s a tree for every personality and age.

“The drive behind our Helping Hands initiative is the children and that’s what we have a passion for,” said Bambi Kocian, Sales Development Associate at J&J Flooring Group. “I pray – hope and love – over every one of these children that will receive a tree. They should have something to look forward to beyond the holidays.”

J&J began its Helping Hands initiative nearly five years ago in Atlanta and has now expanded its efforts to four additional cities to partner with local children’s hospitals, including Houston, to brighten children’s spirits during the holidays. As part

of the Group’s expansion, Texas Children’s Main Campus was selected as its Houston-area partner, with plans to broaden the donation to include all Texas Children’s Hospital’s campuses next year and beyond.
