Dr. Charles D. Fraser, surgeon-in-chief at Texas Children's Hospital, announced as a Texas Exes 2013 Distinguished Alumnus Award Honoree

AUSTIN, Texas - June 3, 2013 - The Texas Exes is pleased to announce the 2013 University of Texas Distinguished Alumnus Award recipients. Each year six alumni who have distinguished themselves professionally and through service to the University are honored with the award. This year's recipients are:

• Linda L. Addison, BA '73, JD '76, Life Member, is partner-in-charge of the New York office of Fulbright Jaworski. A founder of the Center for Women in Law, she was named one of the "50 Most Influential Women Lawyers in America."
• Charles D. Fraser, Jr., M.D., BA '80, Life Member, is surgeon-in-chief at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, where he pioneered the first artificial heart specialized for newborns. Fraser is also a professor of surgery and pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.
• Wallace B. Jefferson, JD '88, is the first African-American chief justice of the Supreme Court of Texas. He has served as a director of the San Antonio Public Library Foundation, the San Antonio Bar Foundation, and the Alamo Area Big Brothers Big Sisters.
• Janiece Longoria, BA '76, JD '79, Life Member, is a partner in the firm of Ogden Gibson Broocks, Longoria Hall. As chairman of the Port of Houston, she oversees the second-busiest port in the United States. She is also a former vice chairman of the UT System Board of Regents.
• Robert B. Rowling, BBA '76, Life Member, owner and Chairman of TRT Holdings, Inc., has served on the UT System Board of Regents and has chaired the UT Investment Management Company. The McCombs School of Business' new graduate building will be named Rowling Hall in his honor.
• James Truchard, BS '64, MA '67, PhD '74, Life Member, is co-founder and CEO of one of the United States' most successful tech companies, National Instruments. He chairs the Texas STEM industry Advisory Council.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award, established by the Texas Exes in 1958, is the highest alumni award of The University of Texas at Austin. This year's recipients will be honored at a presentation to be held in Austin on November 1. For information on past recipients, click here.
