Dr. Gordon Schutze Honored with Prestigious Faculty Award for Academic Clinical Professionalism

The Texas Children’s Global Health Network congratulates Dr. Gordon E. Schutze, Executive Vice President of Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) Global Health and Executive Vice Chair of Pediatrics, on being named the 2025 recipient of the Ben and Margaret Love Foundation Bobby Alford Award for Academic Clinical Professionalism.

This highly prestigious honor is awarded annually by Baylor College of Medicine to a faculty member who exemplifies the highest standards of academic clinical professionalism. The award recognizes not only excellence in clinical care, but also compassion, collegiality, and an unwavering commitment to respectful, ethical engagement with patients, families, trainees, and peers.

Dr. Schutze’s selection by the Faculty Awards Committee is a powerful testament to his decades of leadership, mentorship, and deeply human approach to medicine. Known throughout the Baylor and Texas Children’s communities for his warmth, humility, and ability to inspire others, Dr. Schutze has helped shape the culture of global pediatric care by mentoring the next generation of leaders while championing equitable access to healthcare around the world.

In addition to his longstanding roles at Baylor and Texas Children’s, Dr. Schutze has been instrumental in the expansion and impact of the Texas Children’s Global Health Network, which now reaches more than 8 million people across Africa, Eastern Europe, and South America.

Colleagues, partners, and friends joined us in celebrating Dr. Schutze’s remarkable achievements during the BCM Faculty Awards Day on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
