Texas Children’s Cancer Center faculty earn grants

Awards

The following faculty at Texas Children’s Cancer Center received grants for their work:

    Dr. Alexandra Stevens, assistant professor of pediatrics – hematology and oncology, received a K08 grant of $1,310,265 from the National Cancer Institute for her project titled, “Exploiting the Metabolic Dependencies of Pediatric AML (ASSIST).”

    Dr. Austin Brown, assistant professor of pediatrics – hematology and oncology, received a grant of $3,113,978 from the National Institutes of Health for his project titled, “A Systems Epidemiology Approach for Predicting Methotrexate Neurotoxicity in Pediatric Acute Leukemia ASSIST.”

    Dr. Jeremy Schraw, assistant professor of pediatrics – hematology and oncology, received a grant of $3,689,432 from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities for his project titled, “Leveraging Ethnic Anotia-microtia Disparities for Discovery (LEADD) Study.”

    Dr. Bilal Omer, assistant professor of pediatrics – hematology and oncology, received a grant of $599,954 from the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation for his project titled, “C7G-CD2 CAR TCells for DMG: Clinical Trial of Dual Route Strategy.”

    Drs. Michael Scheurer, Lisa Kahalley and Monica Gramatges received a grant of $7.6 million from the National Cancer Institute for continued funding of their study titled, “Survivorship and Access to care for Latinos to Understand and Address Disparities.” Read more about their work here.
