Our Research Research Tissue Support Service (RTSS)

Research Tissue Support Service (RTSS)

Powering discovery through one of the most largest pediatric cancer biorepositories in the nation

The Research Tissue Support Service (RTSS) is the largest biorepository at Texas Children’s Hospital and a cornerstone of discovery within the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center

By providing high-quality, well-annotated biospecimens and expert research support, RTSS fuels basic, translational, and clinical research aimed at accelerating the development of next-generation therapies for children with cancer and blood disorders.

RTSS serves as the official biorepository for the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, supporting investigators across the Texas Medical Center. Our specimens—processed and stored to rigorous international standards—represent a key resource for advancing molecular discovery, therapeutic development, and precision medicine.

A Gold‑Standard Biobank for High‑Impact Research

RTSS operates in alignment with ISBER best practices, delivering comprehensive, end‑to‑end biorepository services—from specimen acquisition and processing through secure long‑term storage and distribution. Every biospecimen is handled with the integrity and consistency required to support reproducible, high‑confidence science.

Our biobank houses a broad and growing collection of well‑annotated pediatric solid tumor and liquid biospecimens, preserved for molecular, cellular, and functional analyses. Each specimen is linked to curated clinical and pathological metadata, enabling standardized workflows that support longitudinal and cross‑study research efforts.

RTSS biobank resources enable:
• Discovery and identification of novel molecular targets, particularly in pediatric cancer and blood disorders
• Development and validation of front‑line therapies
• Translational insights that bridge discoveries to clinical application
• Longitudinal and cross‑study analyses supported by standardized, well‑annotated specimens
