A home away from home for families with children in the intensive care unit, Ronald McDonald House at Texas Children's Hospital offers a supportive, home-like environment for families of children being treated in the neonatal, pediatric or cardiovascular intensive care unit. With a cozy living area, dining area and fully-stocked kitchenette, families have the comforts of home only steps from their sick child.
House amenities
The 20-bedroom Ronald McDonald House is located on the 4th floor of the Abercrombie Building next to the orange elevators. The 5,000-square-foot facility features the following:
20 short-term, private, overnight sleep/nap rooms with private bathrooms
Large living area
Stocked kitchen with ovens, refrigerator, dishwasher, small appliances, plates and utensils
Dining area
Laundry facilities
Library with computer stations
Quiet room
Overnight stays are assigned daily by the charge nurse of each unit and are for one night at a time, from 7 pm to 11 am. The Ronald McDonald House main area opens at 9 am and closes at 9 pm. Nap rooms are open from 1 pm to 5 pm and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. See the front desk volunteer for nap room availability.
Family rooms
Ronald McDonald House also offers 4 peaceful family rooms situated throughout the hospital for families to eat, relax and recharge during their child's treatment. Each family room includes a comfortable living area with a couch and chairs, a TV and DVD player and a kitchen area with an ice machine, microwave and coffee pot. These family rooms can be found in the following locations:

Donate a meal
Meal donors make a tremendous positive impact on the lives of families. We offer guests breakfast at 9:30 am, lunch at noon and dinner at 6 pm every day of the year. You may drop off a meal, have a meal delivered and/or stay and serve the meal (the number of people serving is limited and there are age restrictions).

Donate supplies
