Corey Detlefs, MD
After graduating from the University of Arizona College of Medicine Tucson, Dr. Detlefs completed residency training in general surgery at the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency Program. He returned to Phoenix after trauma fellowship training at the UCSF Central San Joaquin Valley Medical Education Program and has been on faculty at what is now the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix since then. Dr. Detlefs recently retired after a 30 year career in Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He was a founding member of the Placenta Accreta Program at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix, and operated with this team for over 12 years on approximately 500 accreta cases. One of the greatest joys of his career was being able to work and operate with his daughter, Dr. Sarah Detlefs during her OBGYN residency.

Albaro José Nieto Calvache MD, PhD
Albaro Jose Nieto-Calvache is an obstetrician specializing in teaching and intensive care. He works in Colombia and leads the Complex Obstetrics Surgery and Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) Program at Fundacion Valle de Lili. He has a special interest in the difficulties faced by women with PAS in resource-limited settings and has focused his research efforts on this topic on which he has published more than 80 scientific papers. He is also professor at the ICESI University in Colombia.
Dr Nieto-Calvache is part of the Latin American Group for the Study of the Placental Accreta Spectrum, as well as other scientific societies focused on PAS (IS-PAS and PAS2) and PPH (FIGO and WAPM).
Dr. Nieto has a PhD at the University of Amsterdam with his thesis oriented to the use of telemedicine in accreta.

Luis D. Pacheco, MD
Dr. Luis D. Pacheco is the Division Chief of Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine as well as Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Surgical Critical Care at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Pacheco has been a member of the faculty of UTMB since 2008 and serves as the Director of Obstetrical Critical Care.
Dr. Pacheco completed medical school and his first residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Costa Rica. He then completed a second residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and two fellowships, one in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the other in Anesthesiology Critical Care, all at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He is triple board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Pacheco’s work in both maternal fetal medicine and critical care medicine is unique. His publications have contributed significantly to the education of maternal fetal medicine doctors and general obstetricians regarding medical complications during pregnancy. He has written multiple textbooks addressing medical diseases in pregnancy and has directed courses around the United States in similar topics. Dr. Pacheco has written expert opinion papers for the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine in topics such as amniotic fluid embolism, sepsis, anticoagulation in cardiac disease, and thromboembolism prophylaxis. His research interest is in critical care obstetrics.
