Personal Statement
Taylor Matson, MPAS, PA-C is a Physician Assistant with the Surgical Hospitalist team at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus. She joined Texas Children’s Hospital in 2020. Taylor found a passion for both pediatrics and surgery in PA school, and feels the all-encompassing work as a Surgical Hospitalist is a perfect start her career. She enjoys the exposure to multiple surgical subspecialties, and the direct patient care she provides daily.
Taylor cares for patients in the emergency room setting, pre-operatively and post-operatively on the inpatient floors, and first assists in the operating room. Her clinical interests are wound care, minimally invasive surgery, and cosmetic repairs. In addition to patient care Taylor is involved with the Community Involvement Committee, extending the reach of community support outside of the hospital.
Taylor received her undergraduate degree in Allied Health from Texas A&M University and then proceeded to obtain a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She is certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and medically licensed through the Texas Medical Board.
