Personal Statement
I believe the best care for a newborn starts with a partnership with the family. As a neonatologist, I take care of babies at the most fragile moments of their lives and try to treat parents as essential members of the care team, keeping them informed, listening to their concerns and involving them in every decision about their child’s treatment. I am dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based, compassionate care, and I believe that straightforward communication and a calm, steady presence are as important as clinical expertise during a family’s time in the NICU.
When I am not at the hospital, I love to travel and create new recipes as an aspiring pastry chef—in my own mind at least. I was born in New York City, raised in Puerto Rico and have lived all over the world in my Air Force career. I have a deep appreciation for the diverse backgrounds of the families I serve.
