Get to know Stephanie Casella, MD, FAAP
Dr. Casella is a non-operative Pediatric Sports Medicine physician and Assistant Professor who assesses and treats children with injuries related to sports or other activities. She enjoys getting to know patients and families and works hard to get them back to activities they love as quickly and safely as possible. She enjoys the team environment that caring for athletes provides and understands the physical and mental toll recovery from injury can take. In addition to clinical duties, she maintains an active role in research and teaching.
Dr. Casella also holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine (CAQSM) by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Personal Statement
Sports are a great way for kids to be active and learn life skills. They offer a fun learning environment and often are a top priority in a child’s life. This importance, along with the multitude of people involved, from coaches and teammates to trainers and parents, often creates unique challenges when injuries occur. My approach to medicine is to really get to know the patient and family so that we can work towards a common goal, which most often is getting the athlete back to the activities they love as quickly and safely as possible. However, it is important to not only treat the problem, but also dig deeper into the reason for the injury to help it not occur again.
It is a privilege working with the excellent team in Austin to improve the lives of families in this community.
