Get to know Shannon E. Yancovich, MD
Dr. Yancovich is a pediatrician specializing in pediatric emergency medicine who is dedicated to caring for children and families across Houston’s diverse community. She strives to create a supportive and respectful environment for her patients while providing thoughtful, evidence-based emergency care. Beyond her clinical practice, she is involved in simulation education with the Baylor College of Medicine simulation department, supporting the training and development of health care professionals. Her approach to medicine emphasizes compassionate care, clinical excellence and meeting the unique needs of each child and family.
Personal Statement
I am passionate about caring for children in the emergency department and am committed to providing high-quality, respectful and evidence-based care to every child and family I serve. I believe caring for children in the emergency setting requires not only strong clinical knowledge, but also empathy, clear communication and an understanding of each family’s unique needs. I strive to create an environment where families feel heard, supported and confident that their child is in good hands.
As a native New Orleanian, I enjoy cheering on LSU and the New Orleans Saints and, of course, enjoying a good bowl of gumbo. Since moving to Houston, I have enjoyed exploring my new hometown by walking my dog at Memorial Park, visiting the city’s museums, trying new restaurants and attending Astros games. Outside of medicine, I enjoy running, spending time with family and friends, connecting with nature and stargazing.
I am grateful for the opportunity to care for Houston’s diverse community and to support the health and well-being of its children.
