Rebecca Blackwell is a dedicated Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner with a deep commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to critically ill children and their families. Her journey in pediatric critical care began at the bedside, where she spent several years as a registered nurse in the PICU. There, she developed not only advanced clinical skills but also a profound understanding of the emotional and physical complexities facing young patients and their families.
Driven by a passion for making a greater impact, Rebecca pursued her advanced practice degree. Today, she collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to manage complex medical conditions, provide lifesaving interventions and support families through some of their most difficult moments.
Personal Statement
My philosophy of care is grounded in compassion, presence and precision. I believe that caring for critically ill children requires not only advanced clinical knowledge, but also a deep commitment to being present with families in their most vulnerable moments. Every child I care for is someone's whole world, and I never take that responsibility lightly.
I approach each case with the goal of treating the whole child, not just the illness. I strive to be thorough and thoughtful in every decision, while also being a steady, compassionate presence for families navigating fear, uncertainty and hope. I believe in empowering families as partners in care, respecting their voices and honoring their strength.
What I love most about my work is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact during some of the hardest times in a family’s life. It’s in those moments – when a child starts to turn the corner, when a parent feels heard, when a team works seamlessly together – that I’m reminded why I do this work. Pediatric critical care is challenging, but it’s also full of hope, resilience and the kind of humanity that inspires me every single day.
