Phane Gesare Otenyo, MSM, PA-C is a Physician Assistant with the Surgical Hospitalist team at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus. She joined Texas Children’s Hospital in 2021. She works with a team of providers across surgical subspecialties including General Surgery, Otolaryngology, Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, Surgical Gynecology, Trauma, and Plastic Surgery. She values caring for pediatric patients across different subspecialties for the unique experiences and diverse opportunities and challenges they present.
In her role, Phane responds to Emergency room consultations for surgical cases. She also works in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care of patients. Phane’s clinical interests include hands-on experiences accorded through first assisting opportunities in the operating room and bedside procedures. She enjoys educating patients and their families about disease processes and ensuring continuity of care throughout patients' hospital course.
Phane received her undergraduate degree in Science Education from the University of Nairobi and proceeded to complete a Masters in Science from Prairie View A&M University. She received her Physician Assistant training from Mississippi College. She is certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and medically licensed through the Texas Medical Board.
