Get to know Peter M. Wasswa, MD, FRCPath
Dr. Peter Wasswa is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center. He is currently the Medical Director for the Global HOPE Program in Malawi. His special interest is in childhood hematological cancer, particularly in developing countries. Having trained in Africa and Europe, Dr. Wasswa translates clinical best practices into actions that have a positive impact on children with cancer and blood disorders in Malawi. Additionally, he is very familiar with the challenges of adapting these best practices to the needs and realities of low-income settings.
Dr. Wasswa received his medical degree from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. He completed his residency in pediatrics and his residency in internal medicine from the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health and the Royal College of Physicians, respectively. His Fellowship in Hematology was completed at the Royal College of Pathologists.
