Dr. Naseem Ravanbakhsh is a Pediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with a clinical focus on the evaluation and management of children with liver disease. She cares for children with a broad range of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disorders and is particularly interested in the care of patients with complex and chronic liver disease. As a clinician, she believes that patients and their families should be at the center of every medical decision and strives to provide compassionate, individualized and evidence-based care through collaboration with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
Dr. Ravanbakhsh’s research focuses on improving the diagnosis, assessment and longitudinal monitoring of pediatric liver disease through noninvasive approaches. Her work has examined the use of magnetic resonance elastography, transient elastography and shear-wave elastography to assess hepatic fibrosis in children with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease and in pediatric liver transplant recipients. She is particularly interested in developing and validating noninvasive imaging strategies that can improve disease assessment.
Her research also focuses on Fontan-associated liver disease, including the use of liver elastography to better characterize hepatic fibrosis and changes in liver health in patients with Fontan physiology before and after heart transplantation.
