Get to know Michelle Ann Lopez, MD, MPH, MEd
Dr. Michelle Lopez is an Associate Professor with a dual appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hospital Medicine and in the Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine. At Texas Children’s Hospital, she serves as a faculty member in the Center for Child Health Policy and Advocacy and as Population Health Physician Advisor. She is first author of the book “Disparities in Child Health: A Solutions-Based Approach.” Dr. Lopez has published and presented her research that focuses on addressing health related social needs in the caregivers of hospitalized children with the goal of improving health and wellbeing for children and their families.
Personal Statement
I am committed to improving care for patients and their families through clinical practice, teaching, and research. Patient-centered and empathic communication is a key strategy that I use in these areas. My work also focuses on strategies to help families access the resources they need for hospital and home.
