Get to know Michael W. Gleason, MD, MSPH
Dr. Gleason was introduced to the world of pediatric cancer when he was diagnosed with lymphoma in high school. He was treated here at Texas Children’s Hospital on one of the research protocols that Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine were offering. His personal experience as a patient drove his desire to attend medical school and become a children’s cancer and blood disease doctor at Texas Children’s and work alongside the doctors who cured him. He has now been in practice for over 10 years.
Dr. Gleason coordinated the opening of the new Texas Children’s Hospital Cancer and Hematology Center in The Woodlands, Texas in 2017. His clinical intersets include general oncology and benign hematology, with a special interest in pediatric leukemia and lymphoma. The unique model of having a Cancer and Hematology Center in our community hospital enables patients with pediatric cancer and blood diseases to receive leading edge care closer to home.
Dr. Gleason is a member of the Leukemia Program, the Lymphoma Program, the General Hematology Program, and the Sickle Cell and Thalassemia Program. He also opened the Long Term Survivor Clinic at Texas Children's Hospital The Woodlands in 2021, which is dedicated to monitoring for late effects of treatment for survivors of pediatric cancer.
He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
