Get to know Mark W. Thompson, MD, MBA
Dr. Thompson is a neonatologist who specializes in the care of premature and ill infants. He leads a multi-specialty team within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to deliver evidence-based neonatal intensive care practices to sick infants. He has expertise in high frequency ventilation, ECMO, nitric oxide delivery, therapeutic cooling and care of the tiny baby.
Dr. Thompson's career prior to joining Texas Children's Hospital was in the U.S. Army where he cared for infants in multiple NICUs around the world supporting U.S. service member families. He also served in a wide variety of medical leadership positions, has authored articles and is frequently invited to provide presentations on medical leadership.
Personal Statement
I am deeply committed to our team providing the absolutely best care to our patients and our families. I firmly believe that the families of our smallest patients are the most important members of our care team. Insuring that we deliver the care they desire for their baby is our most important goal. Active communication, frequent collaboration and in-depth discussions are the hallmarks of care we deliver in our NICU.
