Dr. Hanfling's primary interests are environmental issues including injury prevention, injury outcomes, and lead toxicity. He is an Investigator of the pediatric core group to the National Children's Study: Harris County Hospitals and Universities National Children's Study. Dr. Hanfling has been a consultant to the Texas Department of Health on Lead Toxicity and a member of the TDH Strategic Planning Committee for 2020. He is a pediatric consultant to the Southwest Center for Pediatric Environmental Health in Tyler, Texas.
