Academic General Pediatrics

Academic General Pediatrics strives to demonstrate leadership and provide exemplary pediatric primary care education within the medical and global community. To provide the highest quality pediatric care based on the best available evidence while bringing the experience and professionalism of master pediatricians to a new generation of learners. To conduct and collaborate in innovative, evidence driven research to improve pediatric health services locally and nationally. To serve as advocates for the health and well-being of children.

Academic General Pediatrics serves as the supervisory role for the Pediatric residency continuity training program. The Academic General Pediatrics faculty teaches and mentors over 200 trainees, as they learn how to treat patients in a primary care setting.  Our facilities include, Texas Children’s Hospital Primary Care Practice at Palm Center, The Centers for Women and Children, Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center – Pasadena and several private practices throughout the Houston area.  Academic General Pediatrics also, is home to the Complex Care Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital, which provides a comprehensive medical home for children with special healthcare needs.  In addition, the Texas Children’s Mobile Clinic program serves underrepresented communities through the Houston area.
