Personal Statement
Lisa Saba is a certified genetic counselor for the Vascular Anomalies Clinic at Texas Children's Hospital. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at Dallas and went on to achieve a Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from Baylor College of Medicine with board certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
Her role on the Vascular Anomalies team is to coordinate and discuss germline and somatic genetic testing as well as counsel patients on hereditary syndromes such as Capillary-Malformation Arteriovenous Malformation, Cowden, Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia, Cerebral Cavernous Malformation, and Cutaneomucosal Venous Malformation. She is passionate about patient education along with providing support for families throughout their vascular diagnosis.
Lisa also serves as a laboratory genetic counselor for the TCH Genomic Testing Stewardship Committee, working to implement and utilize use evidence-based and best-practice genomic medicine to increase quality of patient care and patient safety. Additionally, she works closely with the Baylor College of Medicine Genetic Counseling Program teaching students about hereditary cancer conditions and insurance coverage of genetic testing. Her research interests include genomic testing utilization, rare genetic variants associated with lymphedema, and psychosocial considerations of patients with vascular anomalies.
