Get to know Juan Vitelio Rodriguez, MD, FASCP
Dr. Rodriguez is an accomplished, board-certified clinical pathologist with comprehensive knowledge of laboratory medicine. He is committed to advancing the fields of pathology and transfusion medicine through his teaching, research and contributions to medical literature. Dr. Rodriguez is dedicated to providing the highest level of patient care, working with health care colleagues to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans. He is especially passionate about advancing education about transfusion medicine in minority populations.
Dr. Rodriguez is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the American Society for Clinical Pathology’s 40 under 40 in 2022. Dr. Rodriguez is fluent in English, Spanish (native language), and Japanese.
Personal Statement
My aim is to better provide and demystify transfusion medicine and coagulation to minority populations, especially to the Latino community, in a culturally appropriate manner. I have a tremendous passion for teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows, and others.

- Improving coagulation health literacy in minority populations
- Bleeding and thrombotic complications in critically ill children while developing safe and effective management strategies
- Coagulation activation and acquired von Willebrand disease in ECMO
- Alloimmunization to non-ABO antigens in the transfusion setting

Facilitating conversations with clinicians about evidence-based management strategies for transfusing blood products effectively, apheresis, ECMO and coagulation, pPeripheral blood stem cell collection for autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplants
