Get to know Joshua Aaron Kailin, MD
My philosophy of care is to treat the entire patient, not just the disease. Pediatric cardiology is a complex field composed of challenging patients with complicated anatomy. My goal is to provide the best and most well-rounded care to patients and their families while also providing education, emotional support and empathy.
Clinical Interests
My clinical interests include transthoracic, transesophageal and fetal echocardiography.

Highlights
Research interests
My primary research interests are centered on the study of myocardial mechanics and fetal physiology, alongside medical education within non-invasive imaging. This includes the study of left ventricular strain in both pediatric cardiac transplant and healthy pediatric patient populations I’m interested in evaluating changes that occur in healthy pediatric patients during exercise through stress echocardiography and the assessment of ventricular myocardial mechanics. In addition, I’m interested in fetuses with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) and have investigated the defect’s impact on the developing fetal heart. Within the field of medical education, I have a strong interest in the utilization of online and mobile platforms to educate trainees within non-invasive imaging. I have subsequently developed one of the most widely-used medical education websites for non-invasive imaging for trainees and physicians to educate providers in transthoracic and fetal echocardiography (https://www.pedecho.org).
