Personal Statement
I am a Nurse Practitioner in the Pediatric Otolaryngology Department at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Houston Medical Center, where I care for patients with various ear, nose and throat concerns. My clinical experience spans pediatric intensive care, adult intensive care, outpatient surgery and recovery room settings. I have a particular interest in working with children and families living with tracheostomies and airway disorders.
My philosophy of care is rooted in a strong work ethic and a commitment to providing the best patient care for children. I strive to deliver competent, compassionate and holistic care, a philosophy shaped by the values instilled in me during my early nursing education. I believe every child is a unique individual who needs a stimulating, secure and caring environment to grow and develop emotionally and physically. My goal is to promote the best patient care for patients and families in our Otolaryngology Department. I am dedicated to being a patient advocate and educator, fostering good health practices and disease awareness. Being fluent in Spanish allows me to enhance communication and education within our multicultural community.
Additionally, my role at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine enables me to serve as a mentor and educator. I am the Otolaryngology Clerkship Director for the Pediatric Physician Assistant Fellowship program. My clinical research interests focus on improving outcomes for children with tracheostomy tubes, reducing hospital visits and readmissions, and enhancing follow-up and care coordination among the medical team. I am also an active participant in a multicenter collaborative research network aimed at improving the care and outcomes of tracheostomy patients. Furthermore, I am interested in the utilization of advanced practice providers in the Houston Medical Center area.
